Thanksgiving Day: the best typical desserts
Thanksgiving Day is a day of celebrations and family reunions in the United States: people gather together to share a festive lunch and give thanks for a rich and prosperous year, reminding each other to give more during the upcoming Christmas festivities.
During this occasion, several traditional Thanksgiving Day desserts are served on the tables. Novacart baking molds, made of pure cellulose paper partly obtained by sustainable and renewable FSC certified materials, make the work easier. They are functional products that allow you to get a perfect presentation of the finished dessert.
Let’s take a look into the best Thanksgiving desserts, including what you need to bake them at home.
Pumpkin Pie
One of the most popular and traditional desserts in the US is the pumpkin pie.
Pumpkin is a fruit that grows during the fall season, and it’s a common ingredient in the kitchen, in both savory and sweet recipes. Its peculiar and sugary taste is perfect for a pie.
Our traditional pumpkin pie has a short crust pastry base, and a filling made of pumpkin puree, sugar, heavy cream, eggs and spices (cinnamon and nutmeg are the favorite ones).
Try baking this pie with an Ecos baking mold, made of pure cellulose paper, resistant to food fats and with an elegant brown design.
Pecan Pie
Here’s another beloved dessert, the pecan pie. The pecan nut is a fruit hailing from North America, a delicious and unique ingredient. It’s often toasted or caramelized, and added to many recipes, including cakes, salads, cereals, cookies and many more.
The pecan pie is made of a short crust pastry base and a filling with eggs, sugar, corn syrup and nuts. The pecan nuts are then used to create a very pretty decoration on top.
Optima baking molds are available in different sizes, they are customizable and heat resistant: use them to bake this delicious dessert.
Apple Pie
This is a great classic of American bakery: the apple pie. It’s also called “American Pie”, and it’s a real symbol of the American tradition.
The apple pie is made of two layers of flaky pastry, and filled with chopped up apples cooked in sugar, lemon and a pinch of cinnamon. The caramelized apple becomes very sweet and juicy.
To present this dessert choose one of our Apollo doilies, in gold or white colors: they’re perfect to enhance your pastry creation, and they’re food fat resistant.
Brownies
This is a dessert made for chocolate lovers, and a traditional one to choose for Thanksgiving Day.
Brownies are big square pieces of cake made of chocolate, cocoa, sugar, flour, eggs and butter. They’re slightly crunchy on the outside and super soft on the inside, a real treat! Try them in their Blondies version (with white chocolate) or with hazelnuts.
To prepare the brownies’ dough try our rectangular PM baking mold, made of pure cellulose paper, perfect to create the right shape to cut into smaller pieces.
Pumpkin and caramel cookies
This is a creative recipe, but it’s still great for Thanksgiving Day. Pumpkin and caramel cookies are big, sweet and delicious treats. They’re made of a traditional cookie dough (with flour, eggs, butter and sugar), with the addition of some pumpkin puree and caramel. If you want to add a little bit more flavor, sprinkle a pinch of salt on top.
Pumpkin and caramel cookies look great on an OY tray in the colors gold or white, available also with a cardboard lid to protect your dessert during transportation.
